Well, I hit publish on the last post prematurely so I will finish in a new one. I made the trip up from St. Augustine to Ortega River in Jacksonville with Barry Widdell. We had a lovely day and he documented it on Facebook, please take a look at his great camera work. We didn’t make it all the way to the marina as the Main Street Bridge decided to not open for us, even though we were two minutes before their restriction time. I spent a couple of days in Jacksonville waiting for better weather and then made a cold run up the St. John’s River to the Ortega River on MLK day.
I’ll stay at Ortega River Marina, a nice, quite spot for a month and then make my way to Savannah. I plan to make a stop in Fernandina on Amelia Island, probably for about a week or two and then head to Savannah by about the beginning of March. This all depends on the availability of a slip in Savannah, looking at Isle of Hope Marina.
I’ve got a slip reserved at Pope’s Island Marina in New Bedford, MA for the summer. I will plan to make a long passage from either Savannah or Charleston to New Bedford, hitching a lift on the Gulf Stream current. All of these moves are weather dependent, of course!
